BELMONT, NC- Mr. Donald Barry McMahan, 71, left us too early after a brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis at his home on April 12, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gastonia on June 27, 1949, the son of the late Jay and
Fay Lane McMahan.
Businessman, educator, coach, musician, actor, aviator, sailor, comedian, lover of life. Don leaves behind a broken hearted family….wife, Charlotte, daughter Amy & husband David, son David, sister Kelly & brother in law Ed Duckworth, nephews Jonathon (Shannon) and Nick(Brittany) great nieces and nephew Alyssah, Braden and Ava, many beloved cousins and too many special friends to count. Donnie was loved by ALL who knew him.
A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Brack East officiating. The service will be live streamed. Due to COVID restrictions, the service will be limited in number and by invitation. However, the family will hold a more public celebration of Don’s life at their home in late June.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Don’s honor to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Attn: Food Pantry, 805 S. York St., Gastonia, NC 28052.
